Visitor FAQ's
On public open days, House tickets are available on-site subject to availability. House entry times fill up quickly so booking online in advance is strongly recommended to guarantee availability for the date and time you wish to visit.
Please show your ticket (e-ticket or printed) to a member of staff at the admissions point upon arrival. Visitors to the House will be asked to show their ticket again at the entrance to the House.
To ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time at Deene, we ask you to book a timeslot for entry into the House. Once inside the house, you are welcome to stay as long as you wish until we close at 5 pm.
If you miss your arrival timeslot, we will do our best to move you to the next available timeslot. In busy periods, there may be an extended wait for the next available entry time.
Historic House members enter the House & Gardens for free, but we recommend booking a timeslot before visiting to ensure availability and avoid disappointment on the day. Membership details will be taken by a member of staff at the admissions point so we can be reimbursed by HH so please remember to bring your membership card with you. Free admission will not be granted without proof of a valid membership.
Historic House membership is only valid for House & Garden open days, including Snowdrop Sundays. It is not valid for special events or group tours.
RHS members* enter the Garden for free and members who wish to upgrade to enter the House can do so on-site at our admissions point.
Please remember to bring your membership card with you on the day of your visit and show it to a member of staff when you arrive. Free admission will not be granted without proof of a valid membership.
*For joint memberships, free garden access applies to one cardholder per policy. For the additional cardholder, a ticket must be purchased in advance on our website.
Free RHS entry is not valid for Snowdrop Sundays, special events, or group tours.
For the quickest and easiest booking experience, we encourage visitors to book via our website.
If you are unable to do this or require assistance, please call us on 01780 450278 and we will do all we can to help.
We have unlimited parking for cars located in the grass parkland, including several accessible parking bays. The car park is approximately 150 yards from the House entrance.
Visitors are not permitted to drive over the stone bridge.
Wheelchair access to the House is via the Great Hall door. Access to the House for wheelchair users is at ground floor level only. We are unable to accommodate motorised scooters within the House.
The formal Gardens contain a mixture of stone, grass and gravel pathways.
Carers can visit us for free and we will issue a complimentary ticket upon arrival. Carers must provide proof of carer status upon arrival showing that they are recognised as a carer for the accompanying visitor.
The evidence we accept as proof of carer status:
-
A letter from the local authority of the carer confirming that they are in receipt of the Carer’s Allowance or are in some other way recognised as a carer by the local authority.
-
A letter from a GP confirming that the carer has registered with them as a carer
-
A registered carer card provided as part of another scheme (e.g. CredAbility Access Card, CEA Card, etc)
If you are a carer and you wish to visit us on your own, not purely as a helper for the person you care for, then you will need to purchase a ticket at the usual price.
We regret we do not allow prams, pushchairs or rucksack-style baby carriers in the House. Side and front baby carriers are welcome.
In the Gardens, there are a mixture of surfaces including hard-surfaced paths and grass. Some areas are very uneven.
Visitors are welcome to picnic on the East Lawn. Please no picnicking on the parterre or within the formal gardens. BBQs are not permitted, and we request that visitors take their rubbish away with them when they leave.
Except for registered assistance dogs, unfortunately, dogs are not permitted in the House and Gardens. We kindly request that assistance dogs wear their coloured harness or jackets.
Please call 01780 450278 or email admin@deenepark.com before your visit if you require further information.
Drones are not permitted anywhere over the Deene Park Estate.
Drones flying over the estate can put members of the public, our staff and residents at risk of danger and is also an infringement of privacy to our private residents. Should a drone crash, it could cause damage to our grade-one listed building.
Drone pilots must apply to Deene Park Estate for permission to fly a drone over any area of the wider estate, the house, the gardens, the parkland, and the within the village of Deene. Only in exceptional circumstances will permission be granted.
