It is with great sadness that as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and guidelines on social distancing, we have taken the very difficult decision not to reopen the House and Gardens and Parkland to visitors this year.
We take the safety of our staff and visitors very seriously and coupled with compliance with social distancing this decision has been reached by the Owners and Senior Management. Unfortunately, small rooms tied to narrow corridors and no through routes make the implementation of a one-way system and the monitoring of social distancing within the House an extreme challenge.
The 2020 season will be a time of well-deserved rest for the House, which has welcomed visitors through its doors every year for over five decades. Vital restoration is now planned and will take place both inside the House and within the grounds, beginning importantly with the entrance Bridge. These crucial works will ensure that the House, Gardens and Parkland can be enjoyed safely by all for years to come.
We will continue to post important news, blogs and the panoramic virtual tour on our social media pages throughout the 2020 season and hope to welcome visitors back for our Snowdrops Walks in February 2021.
Thank you for your understanding at this challenging time.
