Tree Planting Day
Deene Park were delighted to collaborate with Planet Aid and host a tree planting day recently near the village of Deenethorpe.
42 volunteers planted 850 trees, a mixture of lime, oak, birch, willow and maple. We are especially pleased that the Lord Mayor of Corby – Councillor Mohammed Rahman – participated in the event and took time to talk to many of the volunteers.
Graham Garrett (Director of Isis Forestry) together with John Hadley, Contractor for Deene Park, guided the volunteers to ensure all the trees were planted correctly. Graham also spoke about the history of Deene Park, and why it is important to plant the trees to protect the village from the noisy road and help to protect the area from flooding. He also explained how planting trees is beneficial to the environment generally – making the event a brilliant learning experience for all.
We would like to thank the employees of Planet Aid UK, the Corby Scout Group, students from the College of International Co-operation and Development and members of the Corby Yoga Group.
